The SF Irrigation Cooperative (SFIC) was formed in 2017 to operate and manage the business and operations of providing water to farms within the Manjimup - Pemberton region as part of the State Government’s Southern Forests Irrigation Scheme.
The Southern Forests Irrigation Scheme project began in 2014 as an agricultural irrigation scheme being developed in the Manjimup-Pemberton area in south west Western Australia. The proposed scheme will comprise a 15 GL dam located on Record Brook and a pipeline distribution network that will supply water to irrigators who have purchased a water entitlement for the scheme.
Water for the scheme will be of high quality and reliability and will be supplied from peak flows in the Donnelly River. The scheme will be designed to ensure that environmental flows within the catchment are retained.
In 2016 interested landholders in the area were requested to express their interest in purchasing irrigation water through a letter of intent process. The information received from the letters of intent was used to develop a conceptual design for the scheme, costings and a business case.
In order to progress the scheme, the Southern Forests Irrigation Co-operative Ltd is now inviting interested parties to join the Co-operative and to enter into binding water entitlements agreements.
